Lena Group opens the second edition of the competition "Engenho e Arte"

Lena Group has just released the Second edition of the competition "Engenho e Arte” ("Talent and Art") counting on the participation of 10 municipalities, three more than those involved in last edition: Leiria, Batalha, Ourém, Tomar, Torres Novas, Abrantes, Coimbra, Évora, Portalegre and Gaia.

"Engenho e Arte" ("Talent and Art") is a competition that will reward the artists coming from those municipalities, who represent the engineering works that were constructed there, with original works of art. These must comply with the categories of painting, engraving, drawing, sculpture, photography and installation. This contest is open to all artists and higher education students attending courses in Arts, residing or coming from one of the municipalities that joined this initiative.

The winners will see their work publicly acknowleged and published in a book. Lena Group will also award a monetary prize of 15.000 Euros to the best work of art, as well as 2.500 Euros to the best work of art for each municipality. This year there will also be a novelty: an honourable mention for the best young artist, a prize of 1.500 Euros.

António Barroca Rodrigues, president of the General Council of Lena Group, explains that "Lena Group sees this type  of project as an obligation, for it is through policies of corporate social responsability that we return to society some of the trust placed on us. By supporting cultures, sport or education, we ensure a role in social intervention that contributes decisively to the development of our country on the most diverse levels. We believe that this development is only possible if private initiatives enlist the support of public Institutions".

The works must be submitted to the headquarters of Lena Group or the participant Town Halls, from July 16th to October 12th. All the information on this project is available at Grupo Lena "Engenho e Arte" and at the enrolled Town Halls.
